Helpful tips & FAQs

We only offer tattoos. No piercing services or jewelry are available. We recommend Celestial Piercing in Appleton or Paige at Big Guns in Oshkosh.

All clients must have a legal form of ID proving they are at least 18 years of age that will be copied to a digital consent form prior to getting tattooed. This is State law.

All artists work in their own unique style! It is important to research and look through our portfolios on instagram or our books at the shop to make sure what we offer is a good fit for what you’re looking to get done. If you’re not sure, stop in and we can help you out!

We all handle our schedules and communications independently. Some artists have preferred forms of communications to help stay organized and keep boundaries between work and personal time. Individual work emails and chatting in person in the shop are a great way to communicate, but we’ve elaborated in the “Staff” section how each artist would prefer to be contacted as well.

Tattoo Costs and Price Quotes

The shop minimum is $100

For pieces running more than the minimum, each artist charges differently. This is dependent on their work speed or tattoo style so rates differ. Reach out to the artist you want to work with to learn more!

If you are looking for a price quote, it is recommended that you come into the shop so we can look over any references you have and can get a good idea at what size you want the tattoo to be. There are a lot of factors that go into the estimated cost of a tattoo and trying to guess over email or the phone can be difficult.

If you are booked in online for a variable hour block, chances are your tattoo will cost somewhere near that artist’s hourly times the amount of hours you are booked in for.

We are always to happy to work with your budget, so long as it is within our capability. Just let us know!

And as always, Cash is King!

Appointment Preparation

Make sure to get a good nights rest the night before.

Refrain from heavy drinking and drug use.

Stay hydrated and considering moisturizing with unscented lotion leading up to your appointment.

Sun-burnt skin cannot be tattooed.

Please shower before your appointment.

Eat a well balanced breakfast and pack snacks or a lunch and something to drink - if you need a food break let us know!

Dress in something loose-fitting, comfortable, and not dear to you in case tattoo ink gets on your clothing - it will not come out. If you have questions about what to wear for particular tattoo placements, give the shop a call!

If you have body hair in the area to be tattooed, we will shave it for you to ensure sanitization and no nicks/razor burn. However, if you are getting tattooed where there is beard/pubic hair please shave beforehand or have a professional waxing service done 3-4 days prior.

If you have a long session booked or just prefer to not chit-chat, feel free to bring ear-buds to listen to your own music/audio books or a book/word puzzle along if you’ll have the use of your hands.

Last-minute availability, Cancellation spots, Walk-in’s, and Flash Sales

Our booking site has a wait-list feature you can add yourself to to get in with an artist if they have a reschedule or cancellation happen.

You can also often find us posting about last-minute availability on the shop instagram story @ChicoryRootTattooStudio or on each artists individual story.

We take walk-in’s when theres time, but Wednesdays are always dedicated to them. Read more about it on the “Walk-In Wednesday” page!

Flash or premade designs are always made at a deal! We appreciate you choosing something we made special and will always do these at a discounted flat rate. We also like to celebrate holidays and events with special flash, and we post about it on our “Events” page. Halloween, Valentine’s Day, and Friday the 13th happen most years!

A few times a year we team up with local organizations and hold Flash Fundraisers to raise money to help them out. You’ll find info about those on our “Events” page when they’re coming up too!

Aftercare

If you need aftercare instructions, shoot an email over to chicoryroottattoostudio@gmail.com

You will receive an auto-reply back with a full breakdown of what we recommend for aftercare. Any questions or concerns you have regarding how your tattoo is healing should be directed to your artist or call the shop during our open hours.

Touch-Up Policy

All artists guarantee their work. Though some may have different stipulations depending on placement, time since the tattoo was done, or whether aftercare was followed correctly, the majority of touch-ups within those stipulations are free. Sometimes light spots occur after the healing, this is normal. If you feel your tattoo needs a touch-up, reach out to your artist about it. We want you to be happy and want our work to look as good as possible too!
